EA Error Code - Display and Controller Communication Issue

June 8, 2026

What does the EA error code mean?

An EA error code indicates a communication issue between the LCD/top unit display and the motor controller. The scooter may power on, but it may not ride correctly because the display and controller are not exchanging data.

EA is not the throttle error code. On this controller/display code family, EB, B, or E2 point to a throttle or accelerator issue.

Most common causes

  • The LCD/top unit connector is not fully seated.
  • The controller connector is not fully seated.
  • Connector pins are bent, loose, corroded, or damaged.
  • The stem communication wire is pinched, cut, or damaged.
  • The LCD/top unit and motor controller are not compatible firmware or hardware versions.
  • The LCD/top unit or motor controller is faulty.

What to check first

  1. Turn the scooter off and disconnect the charger before inspecting any wiring.
  2. Reseat the connectors between the LCD/top unit, stem wire, and motor controller.
  3. Inspect the plugs and pins for moisture, corrosion, bent pins, broken wires, or a loose connection.
  4. If the EA code appeared after replacing the LCD/top unit or controller, confirm both parts match the same scooter model and controller version.
  5. If all connections are secure and compatible, the stem wire, LCD/top unit, or controller may need to be replaced.

Related error codes

  • A, E1, or E7: similar communication issue between the top unit/display and controller, usually related to the stem wire or connector path.
  • EB, B, or E2: throttle or accelerator issue.
  • EC, C, C0, or E4: motor, motor wiring, or controller issue.

When to contact Levy Support

If EA remains after reseating the connectors, contact Levy Support with a photo of the error code, the motor controller label, the LCD/top unit, and any visible wiring or connector damage. These photos help confirm whether the correct controller and LCD/top unit are installed together.
