What is the operating temperature range of an electric scooter?
General Electric Scooter Operating Temperature for Riding:
- Ideal: 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F)
- Acceptable: 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F)
Riding outside of this range might decrease performance and battery efficiency. Extremely cold or hot temperatures can affect the battery's capacity, range, and overall lifespan.
Levy Electric Scooters:
Levy electric scooters, thanks to their batteries being double insulated in a fire-proof/weatherproof metal casing, offer a more robust temperature range for riding:
- Riding Temperature Range for Levy: -17.8°C to 46.1°C (0°F to 115°F)
General Battery Storage Temperature:
- Ideal: 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F)
- Acceptable Short-term: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)
- Long-term (for maximum lifespan): 0°C to 20°C (32°F to 68°F)
Storing a battery in very cold conditions can lead to a decrease in capacity and potential damage. Conversely, high storage temperatures can accelerate the aging process of the battery, reducing its lifespan.
Other Tips:
- If the electric scooter has been in a very cold environment, allow it to warm to room temperature before charging or using.
- For extended storage periods, aim to keep the battery at a 50-60% charge level.
